Manufacturers of office furniture have used clinch joining for a long time. Among the applications are to join the end walls of a drawer assembly to the main body, to join the cross members of a reinforcement frame and to join the corner of a plinth on which a filing cabinet stands.
The benefits are that the joints can be made after painting or galvanising, which enable a box form to be painted flat and then formed into a box for joining. For this purpose Clinchtech Ltd has developed a compact tangential bend machine, which is shown on the page relating to domestic appliances.
