Clinch joining is a cost effective way of assembling panels in the manufacture of galvanized boiler housings or pre-painted mantles. The cold forming process does not burn the galvanized coating (as would be the case with a welded joint) and therefore the corrosion protection is maintained and the local production environment is more agreeable. Significant manufacturing savings can also be realised when compared to welding.

The pre-painted mantles can often be designed to hide the clinch joints.
